English Class
I feel that I should be one of the people to stay in the course because i feel that i bring a positive influence into the classroom. I feel that i am very insightful, and bring a good deal of knowledge with me everyday. I work hard and contribute alot to the class. If you kicked me out of the class, it would hardly be the same. No more funny comic relief from some of the more boring subjects of english. And if you kicked me out of the class you wouldn’t have me walking in every other class period late, causing a little humorous distraction every now and then. Not to mention that life would suck with out me, not trying to brag, but it really just wouldn’t be the same without me in a classroom chair everyday, well monday wednesday, and friday anway. This is why you shjuold keep me in the class and boot out somebody stiff!
Persuasion
My subjects are batman and superman. The claims are that batman is a better superhero then superman. There is no evidence that is cut into stone as to which character is better than the other. But people say that batman is better because he fights better villains and that superman faces easy opponents. Many assume that superman is better because he is near invincible. But everyone knows that being a hero like superman is very predicable. Batman has tougher battles because his enemies are more vulnerable like he him self. Superman only has one weakness, krypotnite, which obviously is used by everyone who wants t destroy him which is why his battles are so predictable. This is the topic of my speech and you ill be hearing very god details foloowing their matchup!!!
Fab 5 Movies
To being the best 5 movies in life are hard to choose, but these 5 I will mention definiatly fall into the fab 5 category. Gladiator, Scarface, 300, Blow, and Boondock Saints. These movies no only are action packed, but have good stories behind them. The Gladiator has a great story behind all of its actions, there are many aspects to the plot, betrayal, love, hate, war, slavery, and all of this combines together to make one action packed killing movie.
300. One of the most action packed movies of all time. The film uses awesome animation in the blood and gut and body parts of people in the film. The blood almost looks like it came strait out of a comic book. The film makers use so many different techniques in the production and it turns out to be one of the most awesome action packed movies of all time. Al Pacino plays an awesome role in the drug war of the world.
Now we have the boondock saints. Awesome. It is action packed but they also do it in a humorous manner. You have to love the fact that two irish guys go around and kick ass with a friend and a crackhead detective. They take the law into their own hands with religion on their side and what audience doesn’t like a couple of religious murdurers right? I love the brotherly love and the heroism in the ordainary guys. Makes for one fun/ funny movie.
Blow. The drug scene is where it is happening in this film and not only that but plenty of action to boot. Johnny Depp plays an awesome role in this film, again betrayal, love, anger, hate, and desperation come into play when drug smugglings finest decide to have a showdown. This movie is made by just great acting and a great story line.
Last but not least is Scarface. Well over three hours long you get your money worth. This movie is drugs, sex, guns, girls, rich, poor, hate, love, anger, pain, betrayal, and more. I cant even put this movie into words, you just have to watch it yourself
Roger Sipher’s Thoughts on School
Roger Sipher argues his point that school age children and teenagers are not recieveing their proper education. He gives fact on school statistics, demonstraiting the decline in school attendance and in school education itself. He believe that the soulution to this decline in education and attendence is due to the lack of some children wanting to learn. His solution to the problem is to “Abolish compulsory attendance laws, and allow only those who are commited to getting an education to attend.” Roger then concludes that schools have failed in thier purpose of education.
I feel that some of his views may be correct, but not everythign that he says is something to agree to. What he has to realize is the fact that even the brightest students dont always want to come to class or go to schoool. Its in human nature to be lazy, and to have fun. School isn’t exactly fun. The problem isn’t just in the children not wanting to learn, its the educators themselves. In my high school we didn’t learn much. As seniors in high school we were reading books from a 3rd graders level. We took spelling bees and vocabulary quizes. We never learned to write a bibliography, or use correct puncuation, or to write an actual paper. With Roger’s statments, he has to understand not only about the students but the educators as well. When the educators fail to educate, students fail to learn. That is why there is so much varriation in schools, because some have better educators than others. I agree with alot of what Roger says but yet he doesnt include information nessecary to back up his claims that its the students fault. Its not just their fault, especially when the educational system is as poor as it is today in many schoools.
My thoughts on from the edge
First let me state that i feel sorry for anyone that is in the position that has no money, and nowhere to go or turn to. I feel that this essay gives the illusion that being homeless is not as bad ass it seems. The author makes it seem like being homeless is a choice of a lifestyle. Its most unfortunate that people have no opportunities to get them off the streets and have to beg for change just to get by on life. I’m sure that many people in their position try and make the best of it but realize that there is better things out there for themselves. I think that this subject of hunger and homelessness should be portrayed as a much more serious issue than how it was in this essay.
Reaction
America has always placed upon society certain expectations. It isn’t supprising what I read in the book. Everywhere you turn to you see posters or billboards of beautiful women or sexy guys and whatnot. To many people, these models, musicians, and actor/actresses serve as icons and idols to the younger minority. Everyone finds influence from something, could come from peer pressure to persuasion from televesion or a billboard ad. This influence that the media and these people have over us isn’t all bad though. How many people have been encouraged by something they have seen on television, the news, in the sports, on the radio, that encouraged them to get up and do something constructive with their time or talents or money. I know i was encouraged by my favorite athlete to try sand be the best at whatever sport i played. I have friends who saw ads on tv. and guys on the cover of male fitness magazines, who decided i want to be more like those guys and try to better myself. At the same time though, most men aren’t to be as influenced by the goal to be skinny and sexy like women are. The pressure placed onto a woman to have a certain figure and certain weight is definately blown out of porportion. You see on tv. all the time abuot anerexia and balemia, and other certain eating and health disorders usually related to women. Truth is not many guys out there are looking for a girl who weighs under 100 lbs, even though the media places pressure towards women to be like this, there is no need. You look in magazines and see pictures of men, and all you see are either the big beefy steroidal guys, or the sculpted cut from stone guys and thats how we are supposed to look to women. The thing is is that you look at these people and how men are pictured to look, and helf of these guys are made of muscle with no brians to back them up.
Winter break
Michigan. Not only known for its great lakes but for its beautiful winters full of snow. That’s my favorite part of the year, the winter season. While I was home recently over winter break, I purchased a snowmobile, awesome. It’s a 2006 Arctic Cat F7, fire orange and black in color, and fasts as lightning. I love racing snowmobiles, and I love all motorsports in general. When my new snowmobile was delivered, it was heaven. As soon as it was loaded off the trailer I was up and running, tearing up the snow creating a blizzard behind me while I’m cruising at light speed. It was an adrenaline rush. I put just under 400 miles on within the first day I was driving. I rode all day through the trails driving to different snowmobile lodges. I got confused a couple times where I was going but you can never be lost if you have a tank filled with gas. All you have to do to get back on track is drive. I went out to my lake house with a couple of my friends to mess around on the machines. We were racing around and jumping the sleds all weekend until all of our clothes reeked from the exhaust fumes. In total I put close to around 2,500 miles on her over break. I did a lot of riding. Drove it over to Kristin’s house, a friend from up by the lake. The darn thing broke down on the side of the road and I had to have her dad come help me load it on the trailer, and help me fix it. We got it running and headed back to her house. Messed around a little over at her place then headed back to my cabin to get packed. I loaded up my sled and all my belongings and headed back south towards home. I love it up there at my lake house. It’s a little piece of heaving in my life, I love it.
Colloege is different i guess
Well since anyone can read this, what is said in the blog room stays in the blogroom. When i first got here i thought it was goign to be a blast, which it has. I figured it would be all parties and stayin up late and cute girls everywhere. Well, I was wrong. The horrifying reality set in the first week of class, not to mention that i was playing football which made it even tougher to focus in class. Football was tough and school just felt like it was cramping my schedual so i tended not to go to class so much, o well, i managed. I can’t complain though, after ending my football career schoool got easier and i met more people and found myself enjoying the college life a little better. The college parties, overrated. I come from michigan where we hold two of the great big ten teams, Michigan, and Michigan State. At MSU and UofM all the parties are house parties where anyone is welcome, here at Purdue, its all about the frats. But, being from michigan and knowing noone that is hard for me to go to especially because they have a list at every party and i cant seem to ever find my name on it, but i manage to get in anyways so o well. Well there is my view on college life, basicly is the slow road to the real world, and they teach you some shit and hope that you remember it and if you dont who cares, they dont. Thank you and come read my blog next week. Untill then……
